Male vs. Female Massage Therapist – Which is Better?

A common question that most people ask is whether they should get a female or male masseur.

In most cases, the receptionist will ask you if you have a preference and most people usually prefer a female masseur instead.

There are a number of reasons why this is so: women feel uncomfortable as they feel a male masseur might judge their bodies while men find a woman’s touch far more pleasant even if it isn’t sexual in nature.

Speaking of inappropriate sexual behavior, men are usually afraid that male masseurs are gay while women are afraid that they aren’t.

And so, it must be pointed out that if you don’t have a preference, you’ll most probably be scheduled with a male masseur.

That said, all massage therapists are trained to keep their distance while using proper draping techniques and so, one doesn’t have to worry about their safety.

While most beginners might be sure about their preference, a number of experienced spa-goers don’t really care since they understand that it isn’t about the gender but actually the skill that the masseur uses.

Alternatively, there are other spa-goers who prefer male massage therapists since they have more strength and capable of deep tissue massage. In fact, male massage therapists are popular amongst gay people too.

So, in closing, it’s important to understand your own preference when it comes to a male or female massage therapist and ask for it too. For the simple reason that it’s your massage and you should enjoy it.
